Warnock hoping to ruffle feathers

Wed 18 Jun, 06:15 PM

Neil Warnock is confident of ruffling a few more feathers next term despite the Championship looking likely to be as strong a division as ever. The Eagles were a surprise addition to the play-offs last term and Warnock insists he would not swap his set-up for those of some of the league's so-called 'bigger' clubs.

"We surprised a few last season and I think we can get better," he said.

"You look at the teams coming down from the Premier League and the teams with the money now, not just the ones who missed out but even those below us such as Charlton, Sheffield United, Wolves, Ipswich and QPR, who seem to be throwing money at it, and it will be difficult for us.

"On average, when you look at that, we should be mid-table. But we know we've got something special, the fans at Selhurst Park have really taken to the lads and I feel it's a really exciting time for us.

"As long as my team give it everything then we've got a good chance against anybody. It's another challenge which drives me on. We haven't got a lot of money but we have a lot of ingredients which other clubs would like, and I don't think I'd swap many for other teams'."
