Domenech Decision Due Next Month

Wed 18 Jun, 01:09 PM

The French Football Federation will announce their decision on the future of coach Raymond Domenech on July 3, according to a statement on their official website.

Domenech's job is thought to be on the line after the two times European Champions crashed out of Euro 2008 at the group stage following a 2-0 loss to Italy.

That defeat left Les Bleus at the bottom of Group C with just one point from their three matches, and only a solitary goal to their name.

The FFF will now look at the performance of the national team over the last four years before announcing their decision at their next meeting on July 3.

The statement on the FFF website read: "No rash decision on the future direction of the French team will be taken.

"It is necessary to take the time to analyse in the cold light of day the reasons and consequences of this elimination from Euro 2008 and to carry out a review of the work done over the last four years.

"President Jean-Pierre Escalettes will see Raymond Domenech at length.

"He will then submit his conclusions and proposals to the Federal council, whose next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 3.

"We will not make any further comments on the subject before then."

  1. We have seen a lot of coaches with good pedigree who have also delivered when it matters most but this is not the case of the man called Raymond Deeee. The French team we used to know was a winning side but the team is now a lossing side with no figthing spirit,ambition....He Raymon d believe in status-quo and that is the main reason for his failure. He made a lot of mistakes when he was selecting players for the tournament. The tired legs (Thuram, Vieira...) should have been droped for more ambitious players like flamini,Ben Arfa, Cisse...but he (Domenech) considered names rather than form. It is obvious that the form of Flatusso is far better than that of Vieira in the just concluded sesson. So i see no reason why a reasonable coach will drop such a player. Moreover, the non-inclusion of Cisse is also a great blunder committed by the coach.Internationally, Cisse is one of the top performers in the Les Blue's team. But because of a match brilliant performance by Gomis, the coach decided to drop their prolific striker for a player who is not yet matured for the national team and the result is there for all to see.
Apart from all these afforementioned blunders, when Vieira was injured, he ought to have been replaced before their first match but the coach refused. Again during the competition proper, the coach did not have confidence in his players. For instance, they keep playing without an offensive midfielder while Nasir kept his place on the bench. Moreover, in the last match, he benched thuram and replaced him with Abidal ( a left full back) instead of Boumsong. That is quite ridiculous. And it shows that he lacks confidence in his players.
By and large, I don't expect nothing less than resignation by the coach before he receives the hammer from the FFF.....
