Kingsgate Native is likely to tackle a sixth furlong for the first time in Saturday's Golden Jubilee Stakes after finishing down the field at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.
Last season's Nunthorpe winner came home 10th of 13 in the five-furlong King's Stand when having his first start since finishing second in the Prix de l'Abbaye in October.
Trainer John Best feels there were mitigating circumstances and is looking forward to stepping his stable star up in trip at the weekend.
"He's come back absolutely fine and I think he was just running a little bit free because it was his first run of the season," explained Best.
"He didn't get any cover at all, which didn't help us, and he will probably now go for the Golden Jubilee on Saturday.
"I think he will see the six furlongs out fine. We won't know that until we've had a go but he seems 100% after the King's Stand."
