Del Potro, Juan Monaco, Jose Acasuso and Davis Cup newcomer Leonardo Mayer were named on Wednesday in the team selected by captain Tito Vazquez for the tie in the Czech city of Ostrava from July 10-12.

Argentine number two David Nalbandian is unavailable following surgery on his hip last month.

Mayer had a good tournament at Roland Garros where, as a qualifier, he beat James Blake and gave Tommy Haas a run for his money before losing in five sets in the second round.

"In principle, Monaco will play the second singles. Del Potro is confirmed as the first singles player," Vazquez said.

"David was the one who would have adapted best (to the fast surface). That's an important absence. We'd have better chances with Del Potro and Nalbandian," Vazquez said.

"But 'Delpo' has evolved a lot, he can be (world) number one, he showed that at Roland Garros."

World number five Del Potro lost his semi-final in five sets to eventual champion Roger Federer.
