Fed Cup 2009 - Italy choose clay for US tie

Italy will stage November's Fed Cup final against the United States on clay courts in Reggio Calabria.

The city, which is on the southern tip of Italy's boot-shaped outline, will host the event outdoors at the Rocco Polimeni club on November 7 and 8.

The US are favourites after Venus and Serena Williams said they hoped to play in the final despite having missed previous rounds.

Confirmation of the choice of venue is subject to a site visit by the International Tennis Federation.

  1. good but obvious choice of surface. i dont think its­ gonna b easy 4 the USA.
    they r gna need both williamses­ fit and available to win coz anything less the italians­ will win buoyed by what will be a partisan crowd.
