League One - Keegan linked with Saints return

Kevin Keegan has been linked with a shock return to crisis-club Southampton after he was spotted meeting prospective board member Matthew Le Tissier.

The Daily Echo published pictures of Keegan - who played for and managed the Saints in the Eighties - meeting former Southampton legend Le Tissier and ex-chairman Leon Crouch.

Le Tissier is part of the Pinnacle group, who are negotiating a takeover of the cash-stricken South Coast club.

The Pinnacle group have until Friday to complete a deal.

The timing of the meeting implies an involvement by Keegan in a new structure at St Mary's, although there are no details as to whether it would be financial or footballing.

Southampton were relegated from the Championship and handed a 10-point penalty for going into administration, set to come into effect next season.

Leon Crouch refused to comment when approached by the Daily Echo.

Why do some people on here think that Keegan is a class­ manager? class managers are usually proven as very good­ managers, and very good managers usually win trophies­ for clubs.....keegan has won nothing. Are Southampton­ really this desperate? even Hoddle would be a better­ appointment. If Saints appoint Keegan he'll only­ drop them right in it and......yes you guessed it -­ walk out weeks before the club go down to league 2. Not­ saying Saints will go down to league 2 but if they­ appoint Keegan it'll probably be more likely.

  16. Well as a Man City fan i will always be grateful to KK­ for getting us back in the Premier (not an easy task)­ but i reckon it would be even more difficult at­ Southampton no matter who takes over.

    Southampton are­ now where City was a good few back and it was hard as a­ City fan going watching the likes of (and no disrepect)­ Gillingham,Oxford,Stockport and so on in League 1, you­ have to pinch yourself to believe it's true but we­ stuck together as fans and luckily got through it,­ whether The Saints can do the same remains to be seen­ but good luck to them because they are a decent­ club.

    Now if Le Tissier does take the reigns i'm­ off down to Sky Sports for a pundits job, must be on a­ fortune.

    Why would KK go to southampton for? Hes a class­ manager, southampton however are @#$%, have no money,­ @#$% facilities, shocking players, and a fan base that­ seems to be only one person, u never see a saints fan­ anywhere since they got relagated from the premiership.
