Premier League - McLeish admits Ferguson interest

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has confirmed he has made an enquiry about Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson.

The former Ibrox boss had Ferguson as his skipper during his time in Govan and remains an admirer. But the Birmingham boss, who will look to add to his squad for next season's foray in to the Barclays Premier League, was keen to stress that nothing had been decided yet.

"I haven't made a move for Barry but I have enquired about him," McLeish told the Daily Record. "He is one of a number of players I'm interested in."

He added: "I'm on holiday right now but I'm still working away at some things."

Ferguson, 31, was linked with West Brom before Tony Mowbray left to join Celtic.

  14. All we hear is rangers debt this rangers debt this.­ Celtic were in 47m debt when mc cann came in. They then­ sold there souls and rights to there club and stadium.­ I think i would rather have half that debt plus own the­ lot plus be the champions and in the champs league with­ all the champs money. Celtic can only get worse in debt­ and Rangers less debt. Celtic need players BADLY and­ these cost money. The have NO champs league money so­ 15m down from this. Work that out with just champs­ money Rangers 15m less debt, Celtic 15m more debt.­ Hmmmm what does that work out as? Plus celtic need to­ spend on players hmmmmmm Celtic will be in more debt­ than rangers by the end of next season. ENJOY
