Wimbledon - Wimbledon dream over for Cavaday

Eurosport - Thu, 18 Jun 19:17:00 2009

Naomi Cavaday's dream of playing in a fourth successive Wimbledon is over after she was beaten 7-5 6-2 by Vesna Manasieva in the final round of qualifying at Roehampton.

Cavaday, who famously had match points against Martina Hingis in 2007, had been given wild cards the previous three years.

A total of 16 men and 12 women booked their spots at SW19 with the most high profile name to qualify being 2002 semi-finalist Xavier Malisse.

The Belgian defeated Spain's Daniel Munoz-De La Nava 6-3 7-6(2) 6-0 to move into the main draw.

Another man to qualify is former top 30 Taylor Dent who enjoyed a 6-3 7-5 6-7(7) 6-3 victory over Pablo Cuevas.

Dent has been dogged with injuries over the last few seasons and needed a wild card just to take his place in the qualifying draw.

There was no such joy for Australian hot prospect Bernard Tomic though with the 16-year-old being beaten in straight sets by Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
