Sheffield United have completed the signing of midfielder Lee Williamson from Watford for an undisclosed fee.
Williamson, who spent the end of last season on loan with Preston, has opted to move back to Yorkshire despite the arrival of Malky Mackay as manager at Vicarage Road.
"Negotiations for Lee's transfer have been at an advanced stage for some time and he expressed his desire to leave Watford regardless of the future situation regarding the manager," chief executive officer Julian Winter told the Hornets' official website.
"With only one year left on his contract it is also a good deal for Watford, so the decision was taken to complete the transfer."
The 27-year-old made 78 appearances for the Hornets, scoring five goals, after arriving from Rotherham in 2007.

How many more Watford players are you going to buy, you Blades fans might as well just support Watford.
You see that's were your wrong ,you don't Have to.And i get enough sleep i had a good 8 hour's last night. At the end of the day it's no hardship not getting to the prem after all it cost's a lot more to follow your team with all the money grabbing big club's up there, the championship is a lot more unpredictable. And give's the mighty blade's chance to get their revenge on the blue and white @#$%,i hope you did not think you would do it again. You fowl's seem to be more interested in the red and white wizard's, so go on you write all you want just make's it more obvious that the green eyed monster is in your eye's.But has you have got so much free time instead of talking about the blade's, get yourself down to swillsbrough heard they are asking for ppl to go down and help give the ground a lick of paint you never know you might get a free ticket.
Well wendy someone as to!Where you get the mighty from i do not know, cos all the pig blade fans i know would send a glass eye too sleep!!!!!You,ll get nowhere with that deadhead manager of yours, the burnley final proved that!By the way its a free country, can go on any posting i like.!!!!UP THE OWLS!!!
Leejayne typical fowl alway's posting on the mighty blade's,positive fowl's ??? your having a laugh.Yeah right the only thing your positive about us thinking your going to get 6 point's again.First time you do the double in 94 year's and you think that's it why don't you concentrate on posting about the fowl's and keep your snout out of the blade's.
Excuses excuses, ben t, you pig fans at the lane all you do is moan on, maybe you should change your name to the whingin pigs! Scared stiff of us more positive OWLS!!!
Well done Burnley for stopping the pigs from getting promotion!0h and us OWLS by takin 6 points!Lookin forward to another six this season, whilst you lot at the lane whinge on bout the fixtures list, grow up!!!!!!!!!UP THE OWLS!!!!!
craig beattie is the worst footballer i have ever seen.. how did he play so many games for us???
I think the board have shown how little ambition they really have to get us out of this division by their decision to hang on to blackwell, he couldn't get a half-decent performance from his players when we needed it most!, if he can't 'raise' his players for a local derby against the pigs then he's well out of his depth!!, my daughter could've inspired em to a much better performance (it wouldn't have been hard). prepare for years in this division, Blades fans, exactly where the board want us!. The board are spending our money on buying foreign clubs from which we have had no return! and seem happy to put a sub-standard product on the pitch in front of us every saturday!!. Wembley!!,... NEED I SAY ANY MORE???
Who knows what is necessary to gain promotion. Just look at the financial resources it has taken Wolves to so do. And just look what happened to Reading/Barnsley/West Brom! Let's just hope that at long last the promised sun will finally shine on the Lane.
come on now you blades, are we going all out for the premership this season or are we going the same way as last season, going to finish in the top 6 and then get beat again at wembley, and hear the same old excuses,we tried hard , but it wasnt to be . the blades werent up to it at wembley not all that good in other words . they only came alive when wardy came on , so why didnt he play at first ?. we might have stood a chance then. are we going to give the PIGS 6 more points , and drop silly points at home again to teams we should be thrashing out of sight . i would give blackwell until the end of november , if were not at the top with a few good points lead over the others get rid of him and bring in a younger manager, and get rid of some of the older players.
