Huddersfield manager Lee Clark sees his side's pre-season friendly with Newcastle as the perfect preparation for the new season.
Clark is looking forward to pitting his wits against his former club on July 21.
"They may have been relegated to the Championship, but they're still a huge draw because of the support they generate," he told the club's official website.
"They represent a tremendous test for my lads at just the right time in terms of our pre-season work.
"It is a step up in the level that we are used to facing - they are a higher quality opposition and they will test us to the maximum.
"Having a game against Newcastle United is fantastic for both me and my staff as we all have links with the club in different ways but my thought process was purely on getting the best possible fixtures for Huddersfield in order to prepare our lads for August 8."
The Terriers will travel to face non-league AFC Emley on Friday July 17, while Coventry will visit the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday July 25.
