Northampton coach Ian Sampson revealed the Cobblers are still waiting for Mark Hughes to decide whether to stay at Sixfields.

Defender Hughes, a free signing from Everton in January 2007, has yet to sign a new deal that Northampton have left on the table.

Sampson told the official website: "The Mark Hughes offer remains open. We're just waiting for Mark to decide what he wants to do.

"We've been fairly loyal to the lad in keeping the offer open.

"The ball is in his court and if he really wants to stay at Northampton he'll sign the contract."
