Hamilton pens new Edinburgh deal

Scotland 'A' lock Craig Hamilton is aiming to toast a double celebration following Sunday's match against France 'A' in Bucharest - the winning of the IRB Nations Cup and the securing of his new two-year deal with Edinburgh.

The towering second row was a virtual ever-present in Edinburgh's engine room as the team finished as runners-up in the Magners League. And Hamilton has enhanced his reputation further by impressing for Scotland 'A' during the wins over Russia and Uruguay.

As a result, he has been rewarded with a contract that will keep him in the capital until 2011 and the Stranraer-raised forward believes his best season is still yet to come.

Hamilton said: "I'm really happy with the way everything has gone over the past 12 months - both with Edinburgh and now Scotland 'A' - but I realise there is still plenty of room for improvement.

"With the France 'A' game coming up at the weekend, everyone in the squad is determined to finish on a high and continue the winning habit, although we know it will be a tough test.

"I feel I'm playing a lot better than I have ever done before and hopefully there is a lot more to come."
