Grimsby Town midfielder Danny Boshell is expected to miss the Mariners' opening game of the season due to an ankle injury.The 27-year-old damaged ligaments in the midweek defeat to Corby and will struggle to regain full match fitness for the visit of Rochdale on August 9.

Boshell said: "I had an X-ray and that came back clear, which we expected it would, but it looks like I've done my ligaments on the inside of my ankle."

Mariners physio Dave Moore added: "It could be two weeks, it could be six. I would say that he'll struggle to be ready for the first game against Rochdale."
