Foxes striker feeling much fitter

Fri 18 Jul, 05:45 PM

Leicester City striker Matt Fryatt believes the Foxes squad is in far better shape this year than it was 12 months ago.The 22-year-old endured a disappointing season last year, scoring just three times in 36 first-team appearances.

But after two weeks of pre-season training under new boss Nigel Pearson, the forward is feeling far fitter and believes the whole squad has benefited.

He told the club's official website: "We need that base and I think last year from a personal point of view I did not feel I was fit enough throughout the season but especially at the start of the season.

"I was not always involved in the first team but they would even admit they did not do enough in terms of that basic fitness.

"The structure has changed a bit and we are doing things with a purpose. The training is better organised now and everyone has that base and I am sure it will help us for the season."
