Southend United striker Alex Revell does not expect his latest injury to rule him out of the opening match of the season. The 25-year-old, who had two hernia operations last season, is struggling with another groin problem and has been ruled out of the clash with Braintree.
Revell told the club's official website: "I'm pretty gutted about it all. It's a game I was really looking forward to, especially as it's a testimonial for a good friend of mine, Mark Jones."
Revell added: "It's nothing too serious and I think it's just a reaction to the intense work we have been doing during pre-season.
"I've picked up a bit of tendinitis, but treatment has been going well and I shouldn't be out for too long."
