Girls Aloud To A Bad Girl

Fri 18 Jul, 01:09 PM

The driving gloves have been dry cleaned and the sat nav super glued to the windscreen. All is set fair for the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival.

The action gets under way at Ripon on Saturday and then we have nine meetings in nine days.

I will be attending them all.

So how do you prepare for such a task? An early night? A Thai Head Massage? Both were considered - but instead I went for option C - watching Girls Aloud at Newmarket.

So as I pack the lap top up, the engine is purring and a long jaunt down the A1 awaits - followed by a long jaunt back up it after what promises to be a rousing rendition of Love Machine.

Upon my return to Wetherby in the early hours of the morning the tripometer will be zeroed.

You can win VIP tickets for the York Ebor Meeting by guessing how many miles I am going to clock up on my Yorkshire Festival travels by entering our Sky Bet Competition.

Tomorrow at Ripon journalists, from sportinglife.com, Racing UK, the Yorkshire Post and Racing Post will be placing charity bets on the Skybet Supporting Yorkshire Racing Festival Handicap at 3.30. They are raising funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Claire King will be awarding the best turned out prize for that race - and presenting the trophy to winning connections.

From Girls Aloud to Claire King in 24 hours. It is tough work - but someone has to to do it!

Hopefully Claire will be the only Bad Girl on show at the Garden Racecourse and it promises to be a fantastic afternoon.

From Ripon the old Ford Fiesta is pointed towards Redcar and a day by the seaside on Sunday.

I just wonder who is lying in wait there....
