Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta has urged his team-mates to put their last-gasp opening day defeat to Blackburn behind them. The Toffees lost their Premier League season opener 3-2 to Paul Ince's side at Goodison Park and former Rangers and Real Sociedad playmaker Arteta has identified lapses in concentration as the main reasons behind the defeat.

Arteta was among the scorers and the told evertonTV: "We need to improve the concentration level because that's what it's all about.

"We can't concede like we did. We need to get the points in all our home games if we are going to be where we want to be.

"We are gutted because we wanted a winning start. We had a slow start in the game - I don't think we played well at all in the first half - we scored the second goal but we didn't hold on.

"We conceded three goals at home which I think is unusual for us. But we need to keep going now, we need to start thinking about what we need to improve."
