Buckley expects positive response

Mon 18 Aug, 03:45 PM

Alan Buckley has urged Grimsby to banish the memories of the 4-0 thrashing at Brentford by turning in an improved display against Chesterfield. The Mariners manager blasted his players after the lacklustre display against the Bees as Charlie MacDonald netted twice and Mason Elder and Glenn Poole were also on target.

Grimsby had started the season well prior to Saturday's defeat with a goalless draw with Rochdale and a 2-0 win over Tranmere and Buckley is keen to see a response.

"The players have taken the plaudits for the last two performances, which have been outstanding," said Buckley.

"The solidity, the organisation, the workrate have been really good, but there was none of that in existence.

"We need to look ourselves. They do and I do."
