Watford forward Tommy Smith has vowed to take any goal he can after opening his account for the season with a scrappy strike against Charlton.Smith has been handed a role just off targetman Tamas Priskin by Adrian Boothroyd this season following the departures of Nathan Ellington, Darius Henderson and Steve Kabba and is revelling in the role.
He said: "It's typical. We've been working on a more refined style of play all pre-season and the first league goal at home comes after a massive hoof up the pitch from Mart Poom.
"Still, we'll take them any way they come and it was just great to get a win.
"It's been well documented that we've had to sell a few players and that has given me a more forward role.
"I'm enjoying it though as it's been a while since I've played up front."
