Williams relishing Weston pitch

Mon 18 Aug, 12:30 PM

Colchester boss Geraint Williams is looking forward to a bright future for the club in their new 10,000-seater Weston Homes Community Stadium. The U's began life at their new home with a goalless draw against Huddersfield, having left their decrepit Layer Road ground at the end of last season after 71 years.

Williams is hoping the large pitch and pristine playing surface, a far cry from their pokey former home, will suit his side's passing game as they attempt to win promotion back to the Championship.

"We're delighted with it," said Williams.

"It's one of the biggest pitches in the division and if we pass the ball well here, it will serve us well."
