Blackburn boss Paul Ince has revealed the club are close to agreeing a deal with Robbie Fowler.
Fowler has been training with Rovers all summer after leaving Championship side Cardiff.
Ince is keen to have Fowler at Ewood Park and he believes his former Liverpool team-mate can still hack it in the Premier League.
"We are close to doing something with Robbie. He's been different class in training in the last few days," said Ince.
"Robbie is a Premier League goalscorer and he always will be, but the only issue is getting his sharpness back."
Blackburn are believed to be ready to offer the 33-year-old an initial six-month deal which could become a permanent deal if he impresses Ince.

Blackburn will get some big reciepts for the Liverpools games! Fowler's so popular with the Liverpool fans even if he's playing for a rival club. I hope he does well.
