James Vaughan will play for Derby against Crystal Palace just two days after joining on loan from Everton until January.

FOOTBALL Everton striker James Vaughan, who could leave on loan in order to get match fit, according to manager David Moyes - 0

The 21-year-old has moved to Pride Park on a three-month loan deal from Everton to help ease the Rams' striker problems with Steve Davies (ankle) still out and Chris Porter (hip) and Giles Barnes (Achilles) long-term absentees.

"Team-wise it is a boost to have another body available to us," said Rams manager Nigel Clough. "With Rob Hulse, Kris Commons, Paul Dickov and James Vaughan we have some excellent options open to us.

"It is up to us now to decide who we start on Saturday, but I think James will certainly play some part in the game."

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that Jake Buxton requires a hernia operation.

The defender has been experiencing discomfort in his stomach and tests have revealed the problem.

He could be out for up to six weeks - approximately the same amount of time as midfielder Paul Green who has suffered a setback in his recovery from a foot injury.

  1. I have to say I am very surprised by the loaning of a good striker. However, he hasn't played for a while and he needs the minutes. With Yakubu back, Jo and Saha looking good too, maybe we don't need him at this point in time. Besides we can always re-call him when required. And good to see Lucas Neill signed. He'll be good value I am certain and the extra bodies will help us push for trophies. Memo to BK...any chance your mate Mike Ashley can give you a few million for us to spend? I wouldn't want him to own our club but I would have his money!

  3. I hope that James Vaughan will benefit from this loan move and will return to Goodison an even better player for I believe he has much potential. As long as he stays fit and free from injury Everton and Derby will benefit from the deal.

  4. He's definitely got talent but has a lot to prove after 4or 5 years of hardly playing. Let's hope he tears The Championship a new one.
