Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak and Czech Lucie Safarova both posted straight-set wins to reach the quarter-finals of the WTA Bell Challenge in Quebec.
Wozniak posted a 6-2 7-5 win over Russian Regina Kulikova, while Canada's Valerie Tetreault lost 6-2 6-2 to Safarova on the indoor hardcourts at Laval University.
Last year's Quebec runner-up, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, continued her impressive play by ousting fellow American Vania King 6-3 6-3.
Mattek-Sands, who entered the draw as a wild card, gave way to this week's top seed, Russian Nadia Petrova, in last year's final.
Lilia Osterloh outlasted Swiss qualifier Amra Sadikovic 6-3 2-6 6-2 Osterloh meets eighth-seeded German Julia Goerges in the quarter-finals.
