Guildford Heat coach Chad McKnight could not contain his glee as his side ended Newcastle Eagles' unbeaten start to the season with a 102-98 overtime win.
Heat's Aaron Drakeford forced overtime with a late free throw and then starred again in the added time as he completed a 23 point contribution.
"It was a great game. Newcastle Eagles are always a tough team to play and it was a hard fought by both sides but we stuck it through to the end," said McKnight.
Cheshire Jets enjoyed a 101-92 win over local rivals Everton Tigersto move to second in the BBL Championships behind Sheffield Sharks, who beat Glasgow Rocks 85-75.
"It was a powerful performance by us and it is all the more pleasing that after losing every time to Everton last season we're able to get a victory on the board at the first time of asking," said Jets coach Paul Smith.
EJ Harrison's 22-points inspired MK Lions to a 89-67 away win over Leicester Riders.
MK Lions had beaten Guildford Heat 79-75 in the BBL Cup 24 hours earlier while there were also weekend cup victories for the Worcester Wolvesand Plymouth Raiders.
Plymouth beat London Capital 85-80 while Worcester finally got their first win of the season with a 78-71 away win over league newcomers Essex Pirates.
