Gary Waddock hailed the battling qualities of his newly-acquired Wycombe side after they snatched a point off Colchester at Adams Park but he was keen to stress his side must now build on the result.
Jon-Paul Pittman's late strike cancelled out Kayode Odejayi's early opener for the Us and rescued a welcome point for Wanderers in what was Waddock's first game at the helm.
He said: "The way the players responded in the second half was a credit to them so if they show that attitude, determination and commitment we will pick up points and be fine.
"There was a buzz in the dressing room afterwards and getting this point is something we can really build on now.
"It's not about this game it's about where we finish at the end of the season and I think this is only the start.
"It doesn't happen overnight, we have only been in three days so we still have to get all our ideas over to the players, but at times we moved the ball and attacked well."
