Danny Wilson conceded his Swindon side were second best throughout against Hartlepool as his side's 11-match unbeaten run in the league came to an abrupt end at the County Ground.

The Robins were chasing the game as early as the second minute when James Brown, making a steady comeback after a serious injury, headed Pool in front.

And a bad afternoon got even worse when Swindon old boy Andy Monkhouse, who was ironically taken from Town by Wilson during his time at Hartlepool, netted a second for the visitors on the half-hour mark, upsetting some home fans with his goal celebration in the process.

Wilson said: "We weren't in it from start to finish. It was a very disappointing performance for us, particularly after the run we had been on.

"But you have to take your hat off to Hartlepool, who came here with a game plan - one that we never mastered at any stage."

Speaking about his celebration, Monkhouse added: "I simply pointed to the name on the back of my shirt when I scored and, as far as I was concerned, it was simply a bit of banter. I didn't want to leave Swindon three years ago, but managers come and go and moving clubs is all part and parcel of a footballers' life."
