Derby striker Steve Howard could prove to be a real "asset" for Scotland, according to Rams manager Billy Davies.Howard is in a 16-man Scotland B squad for a friendly against Republic of Ireland B in Dublin on Tuesday - so the big 31-year-old looks certain to get his first taste of international action.
Although born in Durham, Howard qualifies for Scotland through his grandmother and Davies is in no doubt about his pedigree and passion.
Davies told Derby's official website: "I think it's good for Steve. He was knocking on the door last season and is a player who can be an asset for Scotland.
"I hope he does well because it's a good opportunity for him. You're always proud to play for your country and it's always great for the club to have international players, and we wish him the very best.
"Steve will be very proud to wear the jersey."
