FOOTBALL 2007-2008 Serie A Kaka Milan - 0

The 25-year-old Brazil international polled 1047 votes - more than twice that of Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, who was second.

Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United was third.

"Tonight is really special for me," said Kaka. "When I was young, I dreamed of playing for Sao Paulo and playing just one game for the national team.

"That was it, but the Bible says God gives us more than we ask more and that is what has happened in my life."

Kaka's award, which he was presented with at the Zurich Opera House in Switzerland, is the latest in a mega haul this year and follows on from Milan's triumph in the Club World Championship at the weekend.

Earlier this month he was named winner of France Football magazine's prestigious Ballon d'Or award and was selected as World Player of the Year by British magazine World Soccer.

Kaka helped AC Milan win last season's Champions League final against Liverpool and becomes the first player to win both the Champions League and the FIFA World Player award in the same calendar year.

He becomes the fifth Brazilian to win the award since 1994 and joins Romario, Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho on the winners' list.
