European Cup heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis began her build up to Beijing in style on Saturday by equalling her best indoor high jump.
Ennis cleared 1.91 metres at the Saucony Loughborough Open and went on to have what her coach Toni Minichiello described as "a good go" at the British record of 1.96m.
Ennis, who also ran the 60m hurdles in 8.32 seconds, said: "I was pleased with my high jump but was a bit sluggish between the hurdles.
"I've still got a lot of training in my legs and am not as sharp as I will be in a few weeks."
Ennis has a busy indoor schedule but has no intention of contesting the IAAF World Indoor Championships in March.
"Jessica will be back in training for the Olympics heptathlon in Beijing by then," Minichiello said.
