Trollope braced for 'tough' clash

Tue 19 Feb, 03:45 PM

Manager Paul Trollope insists Bristol Rovers will be underdogs when they face West Brom in the FA Cup quarter-final at the Memorial Stadium.Trollope is well aware the Baggies will be a tough test but was "thankful" to avoid the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

He told the club's official website: "There were quite a few Championship teams left in the draw, so we knew there was a good chance we would draw one.

"So we'll take that draw, and we'll be thankful again that we've been drawn at home. We will be underdogs - they are one of the best if not the best team in the Championship, and you'd bank on them getting promotion. They have a strong squad of players and it will be a tough game for us.

"We will go into it with confidence and belief in our own ability, and if we produce a performance we know we're capable of then it will be good and close and you never know on the day. There is a big prize at the end of it for both teams and you've got to relish occasions like this."

Meanwhile, Rovers' clash with Swindon scheduled for next month has been rearranged. The Pirates now face Maurice Malpas' men on Tuesday 22 April, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
