Stockport's teenage defender James Tunnicliffe has signed a new contract to keep him at the League Two outfit until the summer of 2009.The 19-year-old is being tipped to enjoy a bright future in the game and turned down a move to Southampton last March.

Tunnicliffe believes County can win promotion to League One this season and is happy to commit himself to the Edgeley Park club.

"I'm delighted to sign a new deal now because everything is going well at the club and I honestly feel we can push on to promotion," he said.

"Personally, I'm developing well at the minute and if I can get a few games then hopefully I can push on from there."
