Cousin Remains In Limbo

Tue 19 Feb, 01:09 PM

Daniel Cousin travelled to Athens with Rangers on Wednesday after FIFA again delayed a decision on his move to Fulham.

The Gabon international, 31, has played for both Lens and Rangers this season and is still waiting to learn whether the world football body will sanction his £3million move to the Barclays Premier League.

The striker made a substitute appearance as Rangers were held to a goalless draw against Panathinaikos at Ibrox last week and could now be involved in the UEFA Cup second leg on Thursday.

Also included in the travelling squad were Thomas Buffel and Alan Gow, although both are unlikely to take part in the clash.

Steven Whittaker missed the trip with a hamstring injury, while a European ban meant Jean-Claude Darcheville also remained behind.

Boss Walter Smith told the Scottish Daily Express: "We thought we would get a decision this week but it seems they have asked for more time to consider all the details.

"Cousin will be travelling with us to Athens on Tuesday and we will have a look at things in terms of who will line up once we are over there and the players have been checked for any problems."
