Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to sign Israel international striker Ben Sahar on loan after agreeing a move with Chelsea.
Wednesday manager Brian Laws wants to bring in another forward as cover for top-scorer Akpo Sodje, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
Sahar, 18, became Israel's youngest-ever player when he won his first full cap as a 17-year-old. He has previously played Championship football in an injury-disrupted spell at Queens Park Rangers.
Laws hopes that a deal can be reached with the player by the end of the day, though the move will not come in time for Sahar to feature in the match against Coventry City.
Laws said: "Ben Sahar is a player we have been talking about and he's a very talented young player.
"We're going to talk to the player before anything is done because he is young and new to the country, so probably does not know too much about Sheffield Wednesday.
"Chelsea have agreed to the move in principal, so it should go ahead if the player is happy with the move."
