Colchester have appealed to the Football Association over the red card shown to defender Phil Ifil against Hull. The former Tottenham full-back, 21, was dismissed by referee Pat Miller after bringing down Hull forward Frazier Campbell just 14 minutes into Tuesday night's 3-1 defeat at Layer Road.
After the game, Ifil said: "(The referee) said it was violent conduct and that I took a swipe at the player, but I'm not like that and I would not do that to a fellow professional."
The FA disciplinary panel will consider Colchester's appeal on Thursday, with Ifil facing a three-match ban if the decision is upheld.
