Wed 19 Mar, 02:16 PM

Leeds midfielder Jonathan Douglas has taken a major step on his road to recovery from injury by coming through 90 minutes of a reserves game. The Republic of Ireland international and former Blackburn trainee has been ruled out for the majority of the season with the serious leg injury he incurred against Walsall in December.

The injury coincided with Leeds' dip in form after their astonishing start to life in League 1 but the 26-year-old could now make his comeback in the home game with Brighton on March 29.

Reserve team manager Neil Thompson told the club's official website: "He hasn't played for a long time, but he eased his way back in.

"He dominated the midfield and came through with no problems, now it's just a case of seeing how he is."
