Fans want stadium assessment

Wed 19 Mar, 06:45 PM

A leading Luton supporters' group has called for an independent study to be launched into the feasibility of the club's proposed new stadium. An application to outline planning permission for the development of a new 20,000 all-seater stadium was made last week with a decision expected this summer.

But a statement from Loyal Luton supporters club said: "Our strong preference is for the ground to remain a strong feature of the local community and as such be situated within the boundaries of the town.

"However before anyone can make a reasoned judgment as to the specific location for such an important decision on the ultimate future of the football club we remain strongly behind the demands for an independent feasibility study.

"Such a study should examine all potential sites within the region and analyse them from the standpoint of the club, the fans, the community and the town.

"We need a comparative assessment of the site's deliverability of long-term sustainability for all concerned parties."
