A statement by the FA of Wales read: "A Disciplinary Panel of the Football Association of Wales met to consider the claim of wrongful dismissal in respect of the sending-off for serious foul play of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink of Cardiff City FC during the Football League Championship match, Colchester United v Cardiff City played on 15th March 2008.
"After carefully considering the written and DVD evidence submitted, the panel decided the 'claim' should be determined as follows: The 'claim' is rejected and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink shall serve the standard three-match suspension with immediate effect."
Hasselbaink will not be banned for Cardiff's FA Cup semi-final against Barnsley at Wembley on April 6.
