Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp insists striker Jermain Defoe has nothing to prove upon his return to Tottenham this weekend.Defoe will come up against his old club for the first time at White Hart Lane on Saturday after his January transfer deadline day move.

The England international opted to leave Tottenham for Fratton Park after growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities.

Defoe has impressed during his short time at Portsmouth, scoring six goals in six games, and Redknapp is full of praise for the striker.

"I'm sure he'll get a good reception from the home fans on Saturday because he did well for them," Redknapp told the club's official website.

"He'll go there and want to do well but he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. He's scored goals wherever he's gone and he's had a great start here.

"He's come into a good side where he knows a lot of lads. He's enjoying being here and we enjoy having him here.

"England could have done with him at the last World Cup when we had no strikers. Goalscoring is an art. It's about being in the right place at the right time and he's got that knack."
