Birmingham defender Martin Taylor returned for the first time since breaking Eduardo's leg last month in the reserves' 3-3 draw with Spurs. The 28-year-old has been vilified for the challenge which resulted in him being sent off and saw Arsenal striker Eduardo sidelined until next season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and FIFA president Sepp Blatter were particularly scathing of the player, who previously had an exemplary disciplinary record.
However, the Football Association have rejected FIFA's call to impose a longer ban on Taylor and he is in line to return to the first team at Reading this weekend.
Taylor made his comeback for the reserves at Solihull Moors' Damson Lane, playing the entire 90 minutes in a strong team also featuring Franck Queudrue, Rafael Schmitz, Daniel De Ridder and Garry O'Connor.
