Wed 19 Mar, 01:45 PM

Striker James Walker has admitted he would jump at the chance to join League One outfit Southend from Charlton on a permanent basis. The 20-year-old has scored twice in six appearances since joining the Shrimpers on loan after his initial move fell through due to problems with the medical.

Walker has since banished any fears over his fitness and now wants to remain at Roots Hall.

"I was due to sign here permanently before I failed the medical and I would still love to do it," Walker told the Echo.

"Since I've come here I've been really impressed by everything and the team has played well. I've been playing games too so it's been a great loan move for me and one that could definitely become permanent."
