Wed 19 Mar, 07:09 PM

Birmingham have vowed to offer City of London Police their full support after officers raided the Premier League club on Wednesday morning.

Police staged a dawn swoop on Blues as part of their ongoing investigation into corruption in football.

Officials at St Andrews were quick to distance themselves from any wrongdoing, however, and insisted they were assisting officers in their pursuit of parties with no direct association to the club.

A club statement said: "The club is co-operating fully with the police in their inquiries which relate to an unconnected third party or third parties.

"For the avoidance of doubt, no-one connected with the club has been questioned or arrested.

"No further comment will be made by the club".

A spokesman for the City of London force added: "We can confirm that officers from the City of London Police executed a search warrant at a premises this morning in connection with the ongoing investigation into football corruption."
