Norwich have signed Blackburn striker Maceo Rigters on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old was the top scorer in last summer's European Under-21 Championships and scored against England in the semi-final with an overhead kick.

However, he has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Ewood Park with Roque Santa Cruz, Benni McCarthy, Jason Roberts and Matt Derbyshire all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Manager Glenn Roeder said: "I think this is a good opportunity for him to come with us with seven games to go and show everybody what he's capable of doing - scoring goals.

"We beat off strong interest from a number of prominent Championship clubs and I am delighted."

Rigters has made just two substitute appearances in the Premier League with his last start coming in the 4-1 FA Cup defeat at home to Coventry in January.
