Swansea assistant manager Graeme Jones has been questioned by police after a tunnel bust-up following the 2-0 win at Bristol Rovers.

FOOTBALL - Memorial Stadium, Swansea - 0

Jones, 38, is understood to have come to blows with Rovers defender Danny Coles.

"A 38-year-old man from Swansea was arrested at the Memorial Stadium after a report of an assault on a 26-year-old Bristol man following the Coca-Cola League One fixture between Bristol Rovers and Swansea City," said a police spokesman.

"The incident took place in the tunnel following the game. The arrested man was released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

"The injured man was treated at the scene for facial injuries."

Rovers had initially confirmed the arrest but refused to specify the individual involved, although Swansea made a statement admitting that Jones was the man concerned.

"The club can confirm that an incident occurred in the tunnel after the game at the Memorial Stadium involving players and staff from both sides," Swansea said on their website.

"Swansea City's assistant-manager Graeme Jones was involved, but after being questioned by the Avon and Somerset Police was released last night pending further investigations.

"Graeme and the club have cooperated fully with the police over the matter and a further statement will be issued in due course.

"The two clubs are in constant dialogue and no further statements will be made until the matter has been fully investigated.''

Goals from Dennis Lawrence and Jason Scotland gave the Welsh side the victory in a heated match that also saw Swans on-loan Manchester United striker Febian Brandy shown a straight red card for violent conduct.

Rovers coach Paul Trollope had said after the match: "The police are investigating and came to our dressing room afterwards.

"I can't say whether we will be taking action as a club at this stage. We will be awaiting the result of the police investigation."

Swansea lead League One by nine points after the victory, while Rovers are 16th.
