Wouter Weylandt won the Nokere Koerse race through his native Belgium.

Weylandt, 23, finished the196 kilometre course first for the Quickstep team in cold and windy conditions.

Fellow Belgian Juergen Roelandts (Silence - Lotto) came second while German Andre Greipel (Team High Road) was third in the one-day race between Oudenaarde and Nokere.

In the first 50 km David Boucher, Sep Vanmarcke and Bjorn Papstein made an escape from the peloton.

Vanmarcke managed to keep up the pace for the longest of the trio, but faded towards the final sprint and Weylandt, the pre-race favourite, surged forward to take the win.

Of the 191 riders that started the race, 104 completed the course.
