Two second-half goals saw Lincoln comfortably overcome a poor Brentford side 3-1 much to the delight of their home fans at Sincil Bank. The Bees started well with City keeper Ayden Duffy making a diving save to keep out a header from Nathan Elder.
But Lincoln soon settled down and were unlucky in the 28th minute when a long-range shot from Louis Dodds came back off the post.
City took the lead six minutes before the break with a freak goal when teenage midfielder Gary King sent in a harmless ball from the left which completely fooled Brentford keeper Simon Brown, who let the ball bounce off the body and roll into the net.
Brentford equalised on the stroke of half-time when a cross from Kevin O'Connor was headed in by Elder.
But Lincoln dominated the second half and edged in front in the 67th minute when Jamie Forester struck home his 14th goal of the season direct from a free-kick. And Lincoln added a third goal seven minutes from the end when midfielder Lee Frecklington headed home a cross from Paul Green.
