Seven-times world champion Anja Paerson has said she intends to retire from competition at the of the 2009-10 World Cup season.
"In order to have the energy and go to the maximum next year, both winning a total Cup and an Olympic gold, I have the goal to quit next year," Paerson told Swedish television channel TV4.
The Swede, who turns 28 this year and won her only Olympic gold in the slalom in Turin three years ago, has struggled with her form the last two seasons.
She finished this year's world championships in Val D'Isere without a medal, in stark contrast to the 2007 championships in Are on home soil where she grabbed three golds.
Paerson, who won the overall World Cup in 2004 and 2005, has also struggled with a knee injury.
