Mon 19 May, 05:30 PM

Stockport striker Liam Dickinson has paid tribute to boss Jim Gannon after he guided the club to the prestigious League Two play-off final.Dickinson's 20th goal of the season ensured the Hatters secured an aggregate victory against Darlington in the semi-final and he was quick to recognise the influence of his manager.

"He's very direct, he wants you to enjoy yourself. He basically thinks that any one of us can play at a higher level than this and that is a good thing because it gives us confidence and it's working as we're winning," Dickinson said.

"The young lads have come in like myself, Pilks (Anthony Pilkington), Tommy Rowe, Paul Turnbull, James Tunnicliffe and they're just not nervous at all. They are excited about the games and I think that's a good thing."
