Swans laugh off Rams' Bodde bid

Mon 19 May, 04:30 PM

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has branded Derby's £500,000 bid for Ferrie Bodde as "laughable" as the Dutch midfielder is not for sale.Rams boss Paul Jewell is interested in signing the 25-year-old, who joined from Den Haag last July and scored seven goals this season to help the Swans clinch the League One title.

But Jenkins is keen to keep Bodde at the Liberty Stadium as boss Roberto Martinez prepares for life in the Championship.

"I can confirm that we have received a bid for Ferrie," said Jenkins, who also revealed Derby's bid included an additional £250,000 if the club made an immediate return to the Premier League next season.

"I can also confirm that is has been rejected. The offer is laughable, especially for a player who is not for sale.

"Having just won promotion to the Championship, our aim is to strengthen our squad and compete, not let our best players go on the cheap."
