Transfers - Gossip Shop: Roman's wobbler

Eurosport - Tue, 19 May 07:14:00 2009

There are two footballing Romans in London and one of them is vital to the success of his team.

FOOTBALL 2008-09 Premier League Tottenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko - 0

The other one is Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Tottenham's £14 million man has scored five times in 27 appearances this season - averaging roughly one goal for every five hours he spends on the pitch.

To make matters worse, the Russian has now incurred the wrath of manager 'Arry Redknapp after storming down the tunnel following his substitution against Manchester City.

"I don't like that," Redknapp said. "It's not something I like," he repeated for those who missed the point.

"The fans are here and paying their money to watch and I think when a player runs down the tunnel without sitting down and watching and getting behind the team, I think that is disrespectful to his team-mates."

Gossip Shop will take this opportunity to link Pavlyuchenko with a move to Manchester City. Who else?

Next up, the news that Portsmouth's Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant is being targeted by Wigan.

According to the Daily mail, Wigan boss Steve Bruce is a "big admirer" of Pennant. The deal is as good as done then.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa's bespectacled gaffer Martin O'Neill has his moles checking out Toulouse striker Andre Gignac.

Gignac is the leading scorer in Ligue 1 and could provide Villa with some much-needed firepower.

Fellow midlanders Birmingham City have "joined the race" to sign midfielder Lucas Biglia from Anderlecht. That's if you believe what you read in the Daily Mirror, which GS ALWAYS DOES.

A figure of £7m has been randomly selected by somebody and City are apparently ready to shell out for the Argentine.

In a rare Anderlecht double-header, GS can also bring you news of "highly-rated" defender Roland Juhasz.

Aston Villa, Arsenal, Tottenham, Bolton and Hull are lining up to sign him, with a price tag of £5m floating around in the ether.

    Dont talk nonsense mate.
Harry took Spurs out of trouble right at the bottom and to 8th.
    It speaks for itself.

In my opinion he's one of the best. And I'm not even a Spurs fan.

Pavlyuchenko deserves better coach than Redknapp! Old Harry won't be good for Spurs..because of Roman's goals Spurs were able to make it to the final of English Cup. Pav is a good striker along Defoe...Keane hasn't scored much since he got back to Spurs..

If Tottehham lads want to see Spurs always battling for UEFA Cup spot, then they should definitely keep Redknapp

  13. Gooner fan...(kofi, comment 23) the joke is on you pal, Robbie Keane was sold for 20 million pounds, and bought back for 12 million! Sounds like good business to me! As for the 5-2 at Old Trafford; we were once again the victims of biased refereeing when the penalty that never was, was awarded when Spurs were 2-0 up. If you have ever played football, you will know how demoralising it is to have an injustice like that put on you, and you feel as though you are playing 11 against 12. As for Wenker, did you say "he has played against 11 Tottenham managers"? What, exactly was he playing? POKER?
