Norwich manager Bryan Gunn has admitted that relegation is likely to scupper his hopes of signing Alan Lee and Jason Shackell.
The pair played the final few months of the season at Carrow Road on loan from Crystal Palace and Wolves respectively and Gunn appreciates that neither player is likely to fancy trips to Exeter, Brentford and Wycombe next season.
He said: "Signing them both was my hope at the end of last season had we stayed in the Championship.
"But we didn't and it will be tougher for that reason. Financially we need to be realistic. These guys have got contracts at a Premier League and a Championship club. They are both under contract for the next two years.
"Being in League One is going to make it more difficult to attract them than it was before.
"We are investigating it. I have spoken to Mick McCarthy and Neil Warnock but there is nothing more to add."

david w , may only be good enough for your kit man but was one our better players when he came back on loan , probably explains why we are playing league 1 next season.....
Keep him he is useless!!!
Wolves are much better off without!
Sigbning him was a total waste of money.
Just about good enough for kit man. thats it.
DEAD CLUB WALKING
yes , i think he said he wanted a contract at norwich , but with the rest of the rats deserting the sinking ship he may have changed his mind - hope not cos lee looked like he was up for it unlike the pr*cks who have gone or going.....
